The cats and I noticed something alarming in the garden this morning-a large flock of Chipping Sparrows fluttering around the pea fences. (Well, I was alarmed. The cats were merely curious.)
I usually see birds flocking around the time school starts in mid to late August. It is only mid to late July, and I certainly hope that this isn’t a portent for an early winter. Our garden is a couple of weeks behind as it is, and we will need as many frost-free days as we can get for a good harvest.
How good are you at predicting things?
I predict Baboons will find comfort from one another today at Edith’s memorial service.

i’m predicting that by the end of the week you’ll have figured out why the birds are attracted

I hope so. Maybe there are tasty moths or other bugs in the peas.

Not very good at predicting. I tried to predict the stock market direction on a daily and weekly basis for more than 20 years and had no better luck than maybe slightly above average. And I don’t have a trick knee or lumbago that lets me predict when a storm’s coming. 😦

I DO. It is painful when I am right.

The trick to predicting the stock market is to predict which direction it’s going to go over a period of a decade or two, instead of on a daily or weekly basis.

Oh, I see it all the time. It is one of the few things I can predict with some certainty.

Today I have learned that predicting who your words will touch is simply not possible. And I am okay with that. Tell your stories, share your words – they are important in ways you may not know about until much later.

I guess it would have been a good prediction that it might be quiet on the Trail today. Good to see all of you this morning that could make it.
