Today’s post comes to us from Linda.
I went to the post office to buy stamps. This happened awhile ago, so I was looking for stamps for Christmas cards.
I looked at the bulletin board that had the available stamps displayed. There was a design I liked, with a deer, a rabbit, a fox, and an owl in winter settings. Appropriate for Christmas or Solstice, or whatever.
While I was waiting in line, my thought was that I would ask for the stamps with the woodland creatures. It’s a design theme that’s been trending in recent years.
As my turn was approaching, the postal worker behind the desk turned and called out to the back room, “Hey, Judy – can you bring me some more of the critters?”
I felt inordinately delighted by this. When it was my turn, I asked, “Could I get a book of critters, please?” and it made me happy for reasons I can’t quite put words to.
My post office receipt had a QR code that took me to a survey, and I gave my postal worker top scores.
Would you recommend this blog post to friends and family?
If you’ve appreciated this blog post, please consider filling out this survey for Linda!
I don’t do surveys.

I usually don’t do them either, but I will do one for Linda. Her quiet, clever wit over the years has made me happy many times. Time to repay that!

Cleaver wit. Sorry. A mis-baboon-spelling.

For any of the newer baboons, the Glossary at top right is full of Baboonish language – full of words like Cleaver (instead of clever) that came up repeatedly, or oddities created by baboons. It used to get updated every year or so, but I sort of lost steam for collecting them a while back. (Plus, it was getting too long.)

LOL! Thanks for the early morning laugh (before I go and read H.C. Richardson)… I am so tired of the surveys – it seems there is one for EVERY danged medical appointment, etc.
But this one I’ll do with pleasure.
I’m impressed that you know how to create a survey!

Thanks for the smile, Linda! Very cleaver!

I did the survey – mostly because I was curious enough to click on the link.
I’ve described this blog repeatedly to countless people over the years. Their eyes always glaze over. Does anyone know why this is?

I think most people migrated to social media sites like FB for their group interaction, and blogs have gone by the wayside or moved to the substack format. So they just don’t get what this is.

Blogs are so ten years ago…everyone watches podcasts now.

Funny that a technology that used to be so new and foreign to most of us is now receding in the rearview mirror.

It’s also kind of a long story of how we all got together online… the only people who’s eyes don’t glaze over when I tell it are people who knew TLGMS (The Morning Show – in the Acronyms section of the Glossary… )

Try explaining it to people who don’t know anything about MPR!

Rise and Shine, Baboons,
I completed the survey which gave me some chuckles, and like Krista I admire the fact that you could formulate this. After the dentist or Dr. I do not think these kinds of surveys do what is needed. I usually do not complete them. People miss interacting with other people and communicating directly which takes a certain open attitude and relationship that many organizations just do not want to bother developing with their patients or customers.

Well done! I laughed because I thought we were filling out the post office survey on stamps.

Happy Spring Solstice!
The stamps look like the work of Charlie Harper.
I usually get his bird calendars but Wild Birds ran out quickly.

Having worked in an industry with lots of surveys, I don’t often fill them out. The exception is if it’s clear that a person involved in a transaction may actually get some benefit or feedback. Automatic “did you get this package surveys”? I delete those. But if I have a chance to brighten somebody’s day because they’ve given me good service, then I go for it.

I love Baboon blogs! and this is a worthy one to join others. These blogs start my day with smiles and thoughtfulness. It was a pleasure to do the survey with some amusing questions and possible answers. Even though I don’t mail as much any more, I do have a preference for stamps (? representing my personality) of creatures, flowers and horses.

Why is there not a survey offered when you really to vent? I recently relented to a young man who wanted to schedule his roofing company (a chain, DaB….) to do a roof inspection here. This ended up taking 2-1/2 hours, and involved all the really hard sell tactics .
I had a local roofer come later and do a similar inspection, and they found only some of the problems the first one found. I could go on, but just wish there was some way to give them a piece of my mind. We are of course going with the local group.

Linda, are you doing a follow up post where you spin the data of the survey results and tell us things unrelated to the questions?

I have received a couple of emails and four phone calls wanting me to rate my experience in Urgent Care on Sunday. I have ignored them all. It was a fine experience, but enough, already!

Two hours ago, I received a request from CVS pharmacy to give feedback on my pickup of prescriptions. I think I’ll comment that instead of $35.00, I want to pay $35,000.

Let us know what kind of response that gets! You may get a blog post out of it.

50% said this blog post was a good accompaniment to breakfast.
20% said it was OK, but not as good as the farm reports.
30% deemed it award-worthy.
If a majority had said they found the post award-worthy, I would have had to follow up with a survey asking, of what award, exactly, do you think this blog post was worthy?

Baboons are far too well-mannered to choose that as a response.
