Clyde Birkholz

Clyde was raised in the post-World War II era on a forest-surrounded small farm three miles west of Two Harbors. After he graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1968, he returned to Two Harbors to teach high school English for 23 years. Clyde wrote his own textbooks for most of the classes he taught.

For the next 19 years Clyde worked in a variety of other roles in education, primarily curriculum development, consulting, and publishing. While working with schools and teachers in 37 states, he co-authored twelve manuals of instructional materials.
For 11 years during his teaching career Clyde served as a licensed lay pastor of a small Lutheran church in Castle Danger, MN.

Now retired, he lives in Mankato, MN with his wife Sandra, to whom he has been married since 1965. His hobbies are carving, painting, and writing. He is the author of an unpublished novel based on his childhood.

He appears on Trail Baboon as Clyde in Mankato.
