There was SO MUCH talking about the Iowa caucuses in the days and weeks and months leading up to them, and also in the hours and hours and hours that followed. But now that the spotlight has shifted, I’m going through a slight episode of withdrawal. And I wasn’t that interested in the contest to begin with! You can imagine how it must be for the political junkies.
Going (finally) for economy with one final spasm of five syllable / seven syllable / five syllable verbiage, we find ourselves face-to-face with unattributed haiku for each of the Iowa Republicans – Bachmann, Perry, Gingrich, Paul, Santorum and Romney. Plus a bonus verse for one who was recently a front runner.
Can you tell whose is whose?
It is very hard

To Google me is a sin
I will not forgiveIowa Haiku
Sounds unconstitutional

Sweet relief for now.
Politics just makes me tired.
The year will be long.
Morning all.. back to the real world after a couple of days of staying away from computer and tv. I haven’t followed enough of Iowa (nor have I watched any news yet although I’m guessing by having just read yesterday’s Trail that I’ll be happy when I do) to be able to figure out who belongs to what haiku. I was just having a conversation w/ a friend yesterday and I talked about how I’m looking forward to 2012 except for the fact that it’s an election year. And I don’t care how many plundits expound on that fact that negative ads “work” — I detest them!

Oh! A circular firing squad? Well, I am guessing they all believe in the death penalty and it does seem they are ready to kill each other.

Well, Ron Paul is againest the death prenalty, so I supose he couldn’t join the circular firing squad, but the others are in favor of it or have no position so they might be able to participate.

The phrase “circular firing squad” was one I heard some pundit or other use earlier this week, and he was speaking metaphorically. If you take it that way, it seems to me Ron Paul is free to blast away with the rest of them.

Okay. I was just joking. However, maybe a wild west candidate like Rick Perry, who lost out in Iowa, might like to try his luck as part of a real cuircular firing squad.

Ben, I think you are very good at writing comments. Just think of a haiku as a comment that is put into a certain form that takes a little time to organize. I don’t claim to be good at composing haiku poems, but I like giving them a try. That might work for you.
