And Then There Were None…

The news these days isn’t usually much of a laughing matter.  And then, every now and then…..

Two weeks ago, in Chapel St. Leonard’s, a seaside resort village on England’s east coast, a ritual mass murder was reported to police.  Bodies were seen inside the Seascape Café by passersby.  Unfortunately when the police arrived, the bodies were mysteriously gone; turns out the passersby had witnessed the end of a yoga class, when all the participants were doing a final yoga meditation.

I couldn’t find any comments from those who had reported the mass murder but the yoga instructor took it very seriously and made sure that everyone in the community was reassured on her Facebook page that the group is not a “mad cult or crazy club”.

What kind of activity do you prefer at a seaside resort village?

  1. I would sit on the beach under the shade of a palm tree (now that I know I am prone to melanoma) while sipping something cold and yummy, watching the waves, and reading a book. I would try to participate in a yoga class without falling asleep during the “final meditation.” I would rent a bike with Barbara and go sightseeing.

  2. Rise and Sit in the Sun, Baboons,

My favorite beach thing is to wallk the beach looking for shells, rocks, and driftwood. Sometimes even seaglass depending on where you are. Sitting still is always a challenge for me, so sitting in the sun…not so much.

My favorite beach story is walking the beach at Ocean City, CA while visiting my grandpa’s cousin who gathered all the Civil War letters of her Grandfather. The area is filled with “California People” meaning strange, flaky folks. We came upon a cluster of people surrounding a young man and his dog. The dog was wearing sunglasses.

Me: Why is your dog wearing sunglasses?

Dog person: Because he is deaf.

Yes, really. Such a California experience. I have a picture of the dog in sunglasses.

  3. Exactly what I did today–a round of golf on a beautiful fall day at a bucket list course (where I didn’t play great but at least didn’t embarrass myself completely!), followed by a fantastic lunch with my wife.in the clubhouse overlooking the golf course and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Seafood chowder for me, chicken tikka masala for her. Then back to the rental house for a nap, a snack, a glass or two of wine, and some ice cream for a final treat.

      1. Forgot to say the chowder was outstanding. Packed with smoked haddock, lobster, scallops, bacon, potatoes, in a thick cream sauce. On the side was one of the flakiest, fluffiest biscuits I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant. Also had a delicious beet salad with feta and fresh greens. My wife’s tikka masala was perfectly spiced and had plenty of chicken.
