Husband and I are back from Boston, he at home and I in Brookings helping out son and daughter in law as they need an extra hand with home and grandson due to work demands.
We flew out of Boston yesterday to Minneapolis first, then to Bismarck and Sioux Falls respectively. While we waited for our plane in Boston we were delighted to watch the antics of a Minnesotan Special Olympics mixed gender hockey team heading back home. One of the members, a young man named John, held a rather large trophy his team had won at a hockey tournament in Boston, They took multiple photos with their coaches and parents, all so happy with what they had accomplished. It was so nice to see such joy and happiness. They looked so proud of themselves.
What joyous things have you noticed lately? What gives you joy in your day to day life?
Rise and Shine, Baboons,
My tulips are blooming, even the ones nipped by bunnies, and that gives me all kinds of joy. Next come the irises and peonies. I also found an early columbine with a big purple bud, while Edith, my Bleeding Heart from Little Jail Bird, has the beginnings of flowers on it.
In addition to this, I will say the pictures of a certain former President, looking unhappy and trapped in a court proceeding, gives me schadenfreude–which is not quite joy but certain fulfills some of my need for some justice.

Easy peasy. The Birds. After their evening quietly sleeping in the dark, it is a joy to watch them wake up and begin singing for breakfast. They get that with the aviary closed but soon enough they gather at the door ready to fly. It’s exciting to have the flock fly around my head ready to take on the toys atop the cage.

Grandson was joyfully showing me the things he got for his birthday. He can hardly wait to find bugs to look at with his new bug catcher that has a magnifying glass in the lid.

It has rained a lot here, so there also is joy for a six year old boy finding earthworms on the sidewalks.

Yesterday the children’s choir I accompany was part of a Youth SongShare along with 5 other choirs ranging from elementary through high school. It was wonderful to see and hear them express joy through music.

YA. Since she’s still living at home, it is a day to day joy. I’m also really enjoying having plenty of time spend in my studio, although the cards are taking over – kind of like the sorcerer’s apprentice!
