Oh no! I stopped by the grocery store last night to pick up something quick and was confronted by a HUGE display of Cadbury chocolate eggs. Not just any run-of-the-mill Easter candy, but my nemesis, the Cadbury egg. I don’t know why I like these, but I really do.
How do I keep myself from temptation for the next six weeks?
Outside the airport, it smells like ribs.
It’s 55 and rainy here today.
The hotel is downtown but overlooks a lake named after a First Lady.
They have chips and pimiento cheese on the room service menu!

On February 5, 1967, the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour premiered on CBS. I remember watching it, as well as Laugh In, Carol Burnett, Jackie Gleason, Jonathan Winters, Jack Benny, and Red Skelton.
I was only 9 years old at the time, and sometimes I just didn’t get the humor.
I think I liked Carol Burnett the best.
It was such an unhappy time, the late 60’s, yet such shows proliferated. One thing that surprised me as I researched this was how long the sketches were that I found.

The last couple of days we’ve been dealing with some upset doggie tummies. Not sure of the cause but both are on a special tummy diet – pumpkin, sweet potatoes, rice, little bit of brown gravy. Both seem to like it and appear to be on the road to recovery.

Today is the anniversary of Phileas Fogg completing his trip in Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 days. He left on October 2 and got back to London on December 21. I haven’t read much of Verne, but I thought this plot was fascinating and fun when I read it years ago
What route would you take to go around the world if you mainly took trains and boats and cars? What would you want to see?
Today marks the anniversary of the first publication of the Encyclopedia Britannica in 1768 in Scotland. I love encyclopedias. I loved the World Book set my parents got me and I read it all the time. Wikipedia pales in comparison, I think, to holding a real encyclopedia in your hand.

Today’s post comes from Ben:
I came home and said hello to the dogs. Went out another door and said “Hi” to the dogs again, and then, as one does with dogs, said “Hi Hi Hi”
Today is significant in history for the 1927 release of The Second Hundred Years, the first Laurel and Hardy film in which they appeared as a team, as well as the 1942 debuts on radio of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet and a weekly show by Abbott and Costello. It is also the anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire. I suppose Mrs. O’Leary and her cow are a duo, but they are not terribly comic.
Talk about your favorite duo, comic or not.
