It is interesting living in a comunity small enough that gossip can be rampant and misinformation travels quickly . Our latest “urban legend” is that we will get 24 inches of snow on Friday. Fortunately, it isn’t true.
Tell about some urban legends you have encountered.
Astronauts Scott and Mark Kelly are no longer identical twins. After almost a year on the International Space Station, tests have revealed that some of Scott’s chromosomes have been altered – becoming longer. He is also about 2 inches taller. Medical science is not sure if these changes will be permanent.
You just came back from space. What change would you like to experience in your chromosomes?
In world that sometimes seems cold and heartless, where bad behavior gets rewarded too often, it’s wonderful to see the story of a waitress who was given a $16,000 college scholarship for being kind to an elderly gentleman who needed help cutting up his breakfast. The story speaks for itself.
Has some ever been kind to you?
Last week my Scientific American came with a big “LAST ISSUE” notification. I’ve been putting off renewing it; it’s a little expensive and, truth be told, I don’t always understand what I’m reading. But it was an interest I shared with my dad and I’m sure I would miss it.
Do you have fond memories of any magazines?
Watched a fabulous special about the Great Wall of China today. Just one place on my very long bucket list.

There are two full moons on the March calendar this year – the 1st and the 31st are our two lunar displays. A full moon is March is thought to encourage worms to begin to move around underground, so it’s knows as the Worm Moon.

If you were to create a revolution, how would you go about doing it?
Today we celebrate the birthdays of Charles Dickens and Sinclair Lewis. They are both acclaimed authors, and I know the plots of many of the books they wrote, but I can’t say I have ever read one of their novels from start to finish. I am not proud of that.
What books have you not read that you wish you had read? What makes it hard to read the books?
I just saw an ad for the new movie Peter Rabbit, opening in a couple of weeks. It looks really mean and violent. Beatrix Potter must be turning over in her grave.
What cinematic travesty has set your teeth on edge?
Life Rule #62. Never grocery shop when you are hungry. I suppose for my purposes we should add “or before breakfast”. I stopped for ONE thing. ONE!
